Biography

Ryan has been a competitive athlete her whole life. She played three sports through high school and went on to play softball in college. Following her “retirement” after college, she underwent reconstructive surgery on her shoulder. She used the subsequent months of rehabilitation to fill the void that the absence of competitive sports training had left behind. She realized she would need to find a new outlet once she was done with the rehab process. Her final day of physical therapy was also the first day she walked into a CrossFit box.

She was immediately hooked and eventually began to compete, participating in multiple team competitions. But her big “ah-ha” moment came when she found herself back on the softball field and experienced firsthand the unbelievable impact that CrossFit methodology had on her performance.

Ryan has worked as a physical therapy aide in an outpatient rehab clinic for many years, working one-on-one with patients and progressing their treatment and exercise plans. Additionally, she has her level 1 certification in Functional Movement Screening. She has spent the past two years coaching softball at Sarah Lawrence College.

Passionate about general health and fitness, rehabilitation, and sports performance Ryan attained her CFL1 in hopes of bridging the gaps between these related fields.
